How to change your default browser
When you install a new browser, it asks you if you would like to make it your default browser. You can then select "Yes" and it will automatically configure itself to be your default browser. If you do not do this upon install, there is nothing to worry about. You can very easily make any browser your default browser, but this must be done manually for security reasons. Follow our easy instructions below to do it.

Make Firefox your default browser
1.) Click on "Tools" on your browser menu.
5.) Click the tab that says "Advanced". You will see a button that will let you check to see if Firefox is your default browser.
6.) Click "Yes".

Make Internet Explorer your default browser
1.) Click on "Tools" on your browser menu.
2.) The bottom item on the list will be "Internet Options" (as shown)
5.) Simply click the button that says "Make Default" to make Internet Explorer your default browser.

Make Google Chrome your default browser
1.) Click on "Tools" on your browser menu.
5.) Click the tab that says "Advanced". You will see a button that will let you check to see if Firefox is your default browser.
6.) Click "Yes".

Setting your default browser with your Operating System
Set your default browser with Windows Vista
If after using your browser's controls as above to set the default browser you still have problems, you can try to use your operating system to set the system default browser.
1.) Click the Start button, then click " Default Programs".2.) Click on the "Set Program Access and Computer Defaults".

3.In the Access and Defaults window, click on the Custom radio button to expand the Custom category.
4.Underneath Choose a default Web browser click the radio button next to Mozilla Firefox.

5.Click OK at the bottom of the window.

Set your default browser with Windows XP
- Click the Start button, then click on the Control Panel icon to open the Windows Control Panel.

- Click the Add or Remove Programs icon to open the Add or Remove Programs applet.

- On the left side of the Window click the Set Program Access and Defaults icon.
- In the Access and Defaults window, click on the Custom radio button to expand the Custom category.
- Underneath Choose a default Web browser click the radio button next to your browser of choice .

- Click OK at the bottom of the window.
What if my links still do not open in Firefox, Chrome or my alternate browser after I change it?
There are some troublesome programs, and some Microsoft links will automatically open Internet Explorer.
Two programs which do it by default are:
- MSN Messenger
- - AIM 5.9 - upgrade to the latest version of AIM to fix this.
